Lamont Makes Erroneous Assumptions

Ned Lamont released a statement today criticizing Senator Lieverman for not listening to Connecticut voters who said they wanted to change course. Lamont is working on the assumption that his primary victory is an indication of what Connecticut think. It isn't.

Lamont got 146,587 votes in the Democratic primary. That represent under eight percent of the 1,965,849 voters in Connecticut. Eight percent is not a mandate and not an accurate picture of what Connecticut wants. He didn't even get a majority of Denocrats to agree with him, never mind the rest of the state.

Ned Lamont is not supported by Connecticut residents. A look at his campaign finances show that the majority of his donations came from out of state. He was strongly backed by MoveOn.org, an organization that has no presence in Connecticut and simply pushes its ultra-liberal agenda wherever it can. In fact, Lamont whole campaign has been the ultra-left fighting the ultra-right. When that happens, those of us in the middle need to set things straight.

Mr. Lamont needs to start paying attention to the rest of the state, otherwise he will be in for a rude awakening when the state tells him what we really think of him on Election Day.
